Why an animated friendship card works better than a message
Friendship at work is the thing nobody says out loud. You will happily tell a colleague their presentation was good and never tell them that they are the reason the job is bearable — because saying it directly, one to one, feels like too much.
A card removes that awkwardness. It is a format that carries sentiment without anyone having to make a speech, and the animation does more of the work than people expect: it gives the message a moment to land instead of sitting in a chat window looking earnest. For still artwork, the full friendship card designs collection has the rest of the range.
Choosing a friendship GIF card for who it is going to
For someone on your team
The designs about being better together, sticking together and being hard to find work well here. They are about the relationship rather than about performance, which is what makes them different from a thank you card — and they can be signed by everyone without anyone feeling they have overshared.
For a close friend outside work
The bolder designs belong here — best buddy, best friend forever, absolute diamond. These need an existing closeness to carry them and land oddly from a colleague you know through meetings.
For a whole group of friends
Cards about mutual friendship rather than one-directional appreciation suit a group that is all signing for each other. These work for reunions, group anniversaries and the end of a shared project.
When to send friendship day cards
There are three dates people use, and they are not the same one.
Best Friends Day is 8 June. International Friendship Day is 30 July, established by the UN. National Friendship Day in the US is the first Sunday in August.
None of them are widely observed enough to plan around, which is actually the point. A friendship card lands harder on a random Tuesday than on an occasion, because on the occasion the recipient knows the calendar prompted it. If you want to use a date, use it as the excuse rather than the reason.
Whichever you pick, open signing a few days ahead. Friendship cards get short messages, and short messages need thinking time — people write "you're the best" when rushed and something real when given a day.
What to write when you are not sure how to say it
The most common problem on a friendship card is that everyone writes the same three words.
Name something specific rather than reaching for a feeling. "You covered for me in March and never mentioned it again" says more than "you're an amazing friend", and it is also much easier to write. If you are organising the card, put one line in the invite about what it is for — signers copy the register they see, and the first two or three messages set the tone for everyone after them.
For the other occasions in the same territory, the love and friendship cards range covers each with its own designs.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an animated card and a GIF card?
They are the same thing here. Every design in this collection moves, and the file format affects loading speed rather than what you see.
Is a friendship card appropriate for a coworker?
For someone you genuinely get on with, yes — and the gentler designs are built for exactly that. For a colleague you know only professionally, a coworker birthday card or a thank you card sits at a more comfortable distance.
When is Friendship Day?
Three dates are used: Best Friends Day on 8 June, International Friendship Day on 30 July, and National Friendship Day in the US on the first Sunday in August.
Can several people sign the same friendship card?
Yes. Everyone signs through one shared link and all the messages appear on the finished card.
